This was a tough one. I tried a lot of things that didn’t make me happy before hitting on something that worked for me. Here are the attempts with comments on why they failed to pass muster.

This was where I started. At this point I had no complaints. The caston was pretty, everything flowed nicely.
The mistake I made was in adding a color that blended instead of standing out. It was so blah I couldn’t go on.
This was a promising start but . . .
I couldn’t get the edging to work. I didn’t have enough yarn selection to match the gray in the body. I had used up the gray I needed in a previous sweater.
With this I was trying something completely different. Every two rows alternated between Khaki Girl and Blueberry Swirl. I LOVE this effect.
But . . . when it came to using that technique around the sun . . .
It turned into a mess I couldn’t make work. Plus the color of the edging was bugging me. This hit the rule of three . . . frog.
Then I hit this combo. It’s not perfect but it’s closer than any of the others I tried. Would I do some things differently? Oh yeah. Am I sufficiently happy with the result? For sure!

This is the end result. It’s beautiful.
